I captured many of the images above and below on international trips to present or conduct scholarly research. All of these images were taken during moments in which I was simply inspired to capture the intersection at the present and the past. Within my filmmaking and photography, I am compelled to, as Dorothea Lange confessed, "take an instant out of time by altering life and holding it still." All photos in this journal were taken with my iPhone ~ some edited with my iPhone. I’m always amazed at how I can create and communicate/translate so many moods with this technology…makes things so much easier than spending hours in the darkroom affecting celluloid.
